What We Do / Regional Representation

Asean Focus Group: Regional Representation

Asean Focus Group works with its clients in the development of their strategies for entering individual countries or the region. This includes undertaking feasibility studies, managing market research, selecting partners, agents or distributors, structuring of ownership and operating relationships, as well as monitoring progress in the implementation of the agreed strategy.

Since its establishment in 1990 Asean Focus Group advises or has advised a large number of both large and small companies operating or seeking to operate in the region across a broad range of activities including manufacturing, food processing, construction, finance, transportation and distribution, law and accounting, education, property, media, IT and software development.

We are also experienced in important support areas such as government negotiations, regulatory issues, the sourcing of finance and related services and dispute resolution.

The Asean Focus Group approach

Asean Focus Group assembles all of the elements required to bring a project to fruition in order to meet a market opportunity in Australia or Asia. This is a dynamic process where success is required in all the key phases. Asean Focus Group is equipped to act as a participant in each phase of the continuum -- from market research, strategy development, selection of a partner, distributor or agent, structuring of the relevant business relationships through to overseeing smooth implementation of the strategy.

Sensitivity, flexibility, the establishment of sound relationships and good timing are cornerstones of business success, not only in the markets of Asia but also in Australia.

Agencies & Channel Partners

Asean Focus Group acts as agent or distributor for selected companies wishing to sell their goods or services into Australia and/or Asia.

– Sector Focus: Education

Australia's Education and Training sector is now firmly established as one of Australia's top export industries. As the sector develops in Australia Asean Focus Group expects more focus will be placed on exporting Australia's expertise to the Asian region either by means of sales of services, licences and investments. Asean Focus Group is at the cutting edge of these trends and works with many of Australia’s leading universities, institutions and private sector companies involved in the education sector.

Asean Focus Group has been involved in the export education sector since 1994 commencing with its investments with Insearch Limited (www.insearch.edu.au - owned by University of Technology, Sydney) in English Language Schools in Chiang Mai, Thailand and Medan in Sumatra, Indonesia. These businesses are known as Australia Centre Thailand and Australia Centre Indonesia and today offer a range of educational services including language testing, student recruitment, project management, arts and cultural liaison, translation and interpreting, and in the case of the Australia Centre Medan, consular services on behalf of the Australian government.

Currently focusing on project activity in the member countries of ASEAN and India, we assist public and private sector clients as well as providing research and consultancy services to government organisations and peak bodies. For example, Asean Focus Group works closely with the Australian National Broadcaster’s Asia/Pacific Television Service, Australia Network in assisting it to develop its relationships with the education sector and promote advertising from the Education Sector (www.australianetwork.com)

Our Education Division is headed by Associate Director Michael Fay who brings over 20 years’ expertise and experience in the education sector in Australia and Asia.
